Internships are available for students seeking course credit for advanced production work or experience in the media industries. Applications for internships are reviewed by AMI staff. The Duke in Los Angeles program offered in the Spring semester includes a supervised internship for course credit which is of particular interest to students planning a career in the media industries.. Local internships are available with the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival of Durham, NC, the Empowerment Project in Chapel Hill, or with alumni. The Duke Career Center maintains a list of paid and unpaid internships all over the country.

Interns at Kartemquin will have the opportunity to learn how a local non-profit media arts organization is run and how social issue documentary films are created, from development to distribution, all while collaborating with a team of filmmakers who have produced emotionally compelling, challenging, and socially relevant documentaries for over forty-five years.
